ALTRUISM On

he practice of Medicine
has improved all over the
world in many instances
as a consequence of
wars, invasions, and
similar activities.
There are multiple examples of the
previous statement; antibiotics come
to mind as well as blood transfusions,
orthopedic equipment, and surgical
interventions. Entire administrations have
been created such as the one dedicated
to serve our veterans with its multitude of
medical specialties, including psychiatry.
Indeed, it is ironic that many of the
improvements in Medicine are the
consequence of wars, since wars are the
sine qua non of human stupidity.
The belief, in or practice of,
disinterested and selfless concern
for the well-being of others. :
I would describe the events that we
are living in at this time as moving; the
international effort and compassion
toward others, the infirm, the elderly,
the children that have been afflicted
by COVID-19, is tangible. Emotionally
moving. Truly altruistic!
I am sure that never in the history of
the human race has there been a time
in which the whole world! Literally the
whole world, dynamically participating
to achieve a common goal—a cure, a
vaccine, and a solution to control and
eradicate the monster of the COVID-19
pandemic and its dire consequences.
The international effort to find a
solution has been tangible, new scientific
articles have been published daily, the
new findings shining with hope for one
and all: Ivermectin in Australia and
France, RLF 100 in Houston, and many
others.
It would be easy to publish an entire
encyclopedia with the names and
discoveries of scientists committed to
the task of finding a vaccine against
COVID-19 from the world over.
Now we are all witnesses to its
arrival! All these men and women have
worked 24/7. They have used the finest
technological advances, and they are
being supported by exceptionally large
sums of money.
Never in the history of man has such
an effort ever been witnessed.
And I am here to be part of it . . . and
