TARRANT COUNTY PHYSICIAN (25)
January/February 2021
Board of Advisors Report
MD, who practices obstetrics and gynecology;
our vice president is Stuart Pickell, MD, who
practices internal medicine; and our secretarytreasurer
is Omar Selod, DO, who practices
pain medicine and rehabilitation. We look
forward to having our officers lead us as we
continue to fight COVID-19 and prepare for
the upcoming legislative session.
PATC also announced that with the
retirement of the non-profit’s longtime medical
director, Jim Cox, MD, two physicians are
stepping in to share the role: Dr. Pickell,
TCMS’s vice president, and David Capper,
MD, a longtime PATC board member. The
transition is going well, and PATC leadership is
thrilled to have Dr. Pickell join the organization.
Board of Advisor’s meetings (which are
currently held over Zoom) are open to every
member of TCMS. It is a great way to get
involved with the society and to stay up to
date on things that are happening in our
medical community. If you are interested
in participating, contact Melody Briggs at
mbriggs@tcms.org.
At TCMS, fulfilling our mission to
serve the medical community
of Tarrant County would not
be possible without our
physician leaders. In the
past year, our president,
Tilden Childs III, MD, has worked tirelessly
to lead us at these unprecedented times.
From building relationships with legislators to
partnering with public health officials, Dr. Childs
has continued to work with TCMS leadership
to combat the spread of COVID-19 while still
addressing the ongoing needs of our medical
community. Thank you, Dr. Childs!
At our December board meeting, our 2021
officers were elected. Angela Self, MD, a
longtime TCMS member, will be serving as
our president in 2021. Dr. Self has spent her
entire career practicing in North Texas. She is
currently serving in an administrative role in an
accountable care organization, where she has
the opportunity to advocate for both physicians
and patients.
Our 2021 president-elect is Shanna Combs,
