VIRTUAL HEALTHCARE IN A CIVIL SOCIETY:
(RE) BUILDING A CULTURE
OF COMMUNICATION
IN THE NEW NORMAL

A generation ago the predominant mode
of physician-patient interaction was through
benevolent paternalism, a “doctor knows best”
affirmation that was recommended by the
physician and passively endorsed by the patient.
Times have changed. As the era of shared
decision-making has evolved so has the need
for meaningful and relevant communication
between providers and patients. This program
will explore the ways in which communication
between providers and their patients has
changed, and the ethical implications this
change has had in a variety of areas.
